Corner Glass Units

Two walls of glass meeting at a mitered steel corner, with no post in the way of the view.

108"90° MITERCORNER GLASSMITERED STEEL

A corner glass unit is a steel-framed glass assembly in which two walls of glazing meet at a mitered glass corner with no structural post between them. It removes the one thing standing between a room and its view, the corner itself, opening the room to the landscape on two sides at once and dissolving the boundary between inside and out.

These are the most dramatic pieces we make, and the most demanding to build. The corner has to be drawn precisely, welded true, and glazed so the two planes read as a single sheet of light. Mod Metal Doors fabricates the whole unit in its Central Texas shop, squares it before it ships, and sets it on site so the geometry holds.

Corner units are at their best where the view is the point: a great room facing the hills, a primary suite over a valley, a patio enclosure that wants to vanish. Fixed or operable runs can be combined, and the unit can be paired with sliding or pivot doors in the same opening.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a glass corner have no post?

The two planes of glass meet in a mitered joint, and the surrounding steel frame and header carry the structure instead of a corner post. Every corner glass unit is drawn, welded, and squared in-house before installation, and the structural approach is confirmed for each specific opening during design.

What is the difference between corner glass units and corner window units?

Corner glass units are full-height, walk-through pieces, door-scale glazing you can pass through, while corner window units are windows that wrap a room's corner. Mod Metal Doors builds both in the same slim steel profile, so they can share an elevation.

Can a corner glass unit include operable sections?

Yes. Fixed and operable runs can be combined within one unit, and the corner can be paired with sliding or pivot doors in the same opening. The layout is drawn to how the room meets the landscape.

Where in Texas do you install corner glass units?

Statewide. Corner glass units are fabricated in Central Texas and installed by the same team across Austin, the Hill Country, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston, most often where the view is the point of the room.
