Steel doors and windows built for Austin's finest homes.
Austin's luxury residential market moves across two distinct architectural modes, and our product line covers both. In the teardown-and-rebuild streets of Tarrytown and Rollingwood, contemporary custom builds use pivot doors and full entry systems, door, sidelights, and transom, as the architectural anchor that distinguishes a new home from the one it replaced. In Westlake, Barton Creek, and Spanish Oaks, where the lot is the luxury and the view is the point, the work turns to glass: sliding door walls that open great rooms to Lake Austin and Hill Country views, corner glass units that dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, and runs of fixed and casement steel windows glazing whole elevations in one consistent profile.
Along the fast-growing 290 and Highway 71 corridors, from Dripping Springs and Driftwood and Loraloma at Thomas Ranch to Bee Cave and Lakeway, active builders bring us in during the plan stage, while drawings are still elevations. Steel is spec'd from the first sheet, not added at the end. The result is a home where the entry, the rear wall, and the window runs read as a single material language. That is exactly what that client base expects.

Two architectural vocabularies. One steel partner across DFW.
DFW's luxury streets hold two distinct architectural languages, and we work fluently in both. The traditional estates of Highland Park, University Park, and Preston Hollow call for arch-top and eyebrow-top steel doors with true-radius curves, double doors with transoms scaled to two-story foyers, and divided-light steel windows that read classic in profile while outperforming anything they replace. This is steel that respects the proportions of the architecture. Not modern steel imposed on a traditional home, but modern steel drawn to fit it.
The contemporary side of the market, Westlake's gated communities, Southlake, Colleyville, and the booming northern corridor of Prosper, Celina, and Frisco, leads with pivot entries, corner glass units, and slim-profile steel window walls where the frame is the thinnest possible expression of the opening. In the northern corridor, Builder Program clients run our steel package across entire slates of custom homes: consistent profile, consistent lead time, and one installation crew on every unit in the pipeline. Estate renovations across the Park Cities also bring us inside: interior steel doors, wine room doors, and pantry doors that carry the steel-and-glass language from the front door through the whole home.

Steel drawn to fit San Antonio's architectural character.
San Antonio's finest neighborhoods carry a Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean character that has defined the city's luxury residential design for a century, and it sets specific demands on steel. Our arch-top doors are drawn in true curves, not approximations, with profiles slim enough to read modern while proportioned to suit the openings of an Olmos Park estate or an Alamo Heights courtyard. Double doors with sidelights and transoms compose into entry systems that suit old-world massing without replicating it.
For communities like The Dominion, where architectural review is rigorous and every finish is evaluated before it is approved, we provide full CAD shop drawings with elevation studies and profile details. Clients bring these drawings to the review committee with exact dimensions, glass placement, and finish specifications. The approval is clean, the project moves on schedule, and there are no surprises at rough framing.
Newer builds in Stone Oak and the Hill Country edge at Boerne pull toward the contemporary: pivot entries, sliding walls to outdoor kitchens, and corner windows that frame the escarpment. Renovations across the metro frequently begin with a wine room door or steel pantry door and grow into whole-home steel packages. We build for the full range of San Antonio's luxury market.

Steel doors and windows for Houston's inner-loop luxury market.
Houston's premier neighborhoods are a design competition. In River Oaks, Tanglewood, and the Memorial Villages, new custom homes and major renovations are measured against their neighbors, and the entry, the fenestration, and the indoor-outdoor threshold are where that comparison happens.
For entry sequences, we build systems: pivot door or hinged pair with sidelights and a full-height transom, composed and scaled to two-story foyers and deep Houston lots. For the interior, casement windows over kitchen runs or fixed panels in a primary suite change how a room holds and reads light across the day. For the rear elevation, which is where these homes are actually lived in, sliding steel walls dissolving the boundary between a living room and a pool loggia are among the most requested products we make for this market.
Renovation clients across Houston's inner-loop neighborhoods often begin with a single interior door, a wine room or a pantry in fluted glass, and return to extend the steel program outward. The product is always the same: custom built to the opening, installed by the crew that designed it, with one point of contact from first drawing to final walkthrough.

Corner glass, sliding walls, and the Hill Country horizon.
The Hill Country is where the case for steel glazing makes itself. Corner glass units, sliding door walls, and floor-to-ceiling fixed steel windows exist to solve one problem: how to put the most glass in the least frame so the view, cedars and limestone, lake and horizon, ridge and valley, fills the room rather than the wall.
Our Hill Country portfolio includes a full patio enclosure at Boot Ranch near Fredericksburg, pavilion glazing at Signor Vineyards, and estate projects across the wine country and lake regions. At every site, the brief comes from the landscape: how much of the view can the wall hold. Steel answers with the slimmest sightlines we make.
Second homes and vineyard properties here are frequently planned from Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio. We've built our process around that reality: one point of contact who stays with the project from site measurement to final walkthrough, CAD drawings reviewed and approved remotely, and installation coordinated directly with your builder on their schedule, at Vintage Oaks, Canyon Lake, Horseshoe Bay, Fredericksburg, and everywhere between.

Custom steel doors and windows in the Central Texas corridor.
The I-35 corridor between Austin and Waco is among the fastest-growing custom home territory in Texas. Our scheduling for this corridor runs efficiently: field measurements, CAD revision cycles, and installation coordination all move quickly for projects in this region, and our lead times hold consistent regardless of where in the corridor the project sits.
The work spans the full product line: entry systems and pivot doors on estate builds, interior steel doors and pantry doors as signature finishes in semi-custom luxury, and exterior steel window packages that distinguish homes at the upper end of a fast-moving new-build market. For builders running multiple homes between Jarrell and Waco, the Builder Program puts a dedicated steel door and window partner effectively on call: same profile, same process, same crew on every home in the pipeline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Mod Metal Doors install custom steel doors and windows?
Mod Metal Doors installs across the entire state of Texas: the Austin metro, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, the Hill Country, and the Central Texas corridor. Every unit is fabricated in our Central Texas shop and installed by our own crew, not subcontractors.
Does my project's location affect the lead time?
No. Fabrication runs 4–6 weeks on average regardless of where the home is; installation is a matter of scheduling. Because one team handles design, fabrication, and installation, statewide projects follow the same process as local ones.
Do you work in Texas communities that aren't listed on this page?
Yes. The communities listed are where we work most often, not a boundary. If your build or renovation is anywhere in Texas, contact us: we can almost certainly serve your area.
Who performs the installation, your team or a subcontractor?
Our own crew. The people who draw and weld your doors in the Mod Metal Doors shop are the same team that sets, tunes, and services them on site, anywhere in Texas.
Can builders outside Austin join the Builder Program?
Yes. The Builder Program serves custom home builders statewide, including DFW, San Antonio, Houston, and the Hill Country included, with the same single point of contact, in-house manufacturing, and controlled lead times on every home in your pipeline.
Don’t see your area?
