FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can steel windows match my steel doors?

Yes, that is the reason to buy them together. Mod Metal Doors builds windows and doors in the same shop and the same slim steel profile, so a fixed light beside a casement beside a pivot door reads as one continuous system.

Do custom steel windows open?

Operable casements do. They hinge at the side and swing outward for ventilation. Fixed windows don't open, which keeps their sightlines thinnest. Most elevations combine the two, with ventilation placed exactly where it's wanted.

Are your steel windows made in standard sizes?

No. Each window is drawn to the specific opening, welded and finished by hand, and set true on site. Custom sizing is what lets a whole elevation share one consistent profile.

Where in Texas do you install steel windows?

Statewide: Austin, the Hill Country, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston. The windows are built in Central Texas and installed by the same team that fabricates them.
